NJ TRANSIT offers reduced fares for seniors age 62 and older and eligible people with disabilities. Different age rules apply for travel to or from Metro-North stations. Check the accepted identification list before traveling; you may already have qualifying identification. People who need an NJ TRANSIT Reduced Fare ID can apply through the program’s official page. Since January 1, 2026, older Reduced Fare ID cards without a photo are no longer accepted, so affected cardholders need a replacement photo card.

What to do next

Review accepted identification and, if needed, use the linked Reduced Fare ID application.
