For claims in 2026, NJDOL calculates the weekly benefit rate at 60% of your average weekly wage during the applicable base year, capped at $905 per week. Your actual amount depends on reported wages and eligibility; part-time work or a pension can reduce it, and qualifying dependents may increase a rate below the cap. The 2026 earnings test is at least $310 a week for 20 base weeks, or $15,500 in covered earnings during the base year. These figures do not guarantee payment. Check NJDOL's calculation page and review the benefit determination sent for your claim.

What to do next

Read NJDOL's calculation page, then compare its rules with the wage and benefit information in your claim determination.
