Background

Rose P. Araneo is a Republican serving as mayor of Keyport, a borough of approximately 7,204 residents located in Monmouth County along the Raritan Bay. Araneo was sworn into office on January 1, 2023, after winning election in November 2022. Her term runs through December 31, 2026, and she is seeking re-election in 2026.


Born in Irvington and raised in Keyport, Araneo built a career in business operations, marketing, and finance. She began as Director of Marketing at Paul Sebastian Inc. in 1984, launching fragrance brands including Paul Sebastian, Design, Nautica, Jones New York, and Mark Cross. Over 14 years she rose to Senior Vice President of Operations before the company was sold in 1998. She then spent 18 years as Senior Vice President of Au'some Inc., an international candy manufacturing and distribution company with plants in China and South Carolina, where she controlled product development, procurement, production, and finance for more than 150 employees. Since 2017 she has served as Vice President of Operations for 3rd Party Logistics Group, a beauty fulfillment company with over 60 direct reports.
Araneo entered municipal politics in 2022, winning election to the Keyport Borough Council. In November 2022 she won the mayoral election, leading a Republican sweep that gave the party a 5-1 majority on the borough council. She is the first Republican mayor in recent Keyport history and the fourth generation of her family to reside in the borough.
