U.S. Representative, NJ-01
Donald Norcross was born in Camden, New Jersey, in 1948. He began his career as an electrician and became active in organized labor. He served as president of the Southern New Jersey AFL-CIO Central Labor Council, and as president of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 351. He also served on the Camden County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
Norcross entered the New Jersey Legislature in 2009 when he was elected to the General Assembly. He moved to the State Senate in 2010 representing the 5th Legislative District. He served in the Senate until 2014.
In 2014, longtime Congressman Rob Andrews resigned from New Jersey’s 1st Congressional District seat. Norcross won the special election to replace Andrews, taking office in November 2014. He has been re-elected to the seat multiple times, representing a district that includes Camden, Gloucester, and Salem counties.
Norcross comes from a prominent South Jersey political family. His brother George Norcross is a businessman and highly influential state Democratic Party figure.
