Christine Giordano Hanlon is a Republican constitutional officer and party leader who has served as Monmouth County Clerk since 2015 and was elected Chair of the New Jersey Republican Party in January 2026. She holds the distinction of having garnered the most votes of any candidate in Monmouth County history, winning her 2020 re-election by nearly 20 percentage points.
Hanlon built a legal career spanning more than two decades before entering electoral politics. She earned her undergraduate degree from Barnard College, Columbia University, and her Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law. After law school, she served as Law Clerk to the Honorable A. Simon Chrein, Chief United States Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of New York, and subsequently worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County, New York. Her legal practice focused on government affairs and municipal law.
Prior to her election as County Clerk, Hanlon served as a Commissioner on the Monmouth County Board of Elections, including two years as Secretary. She has been active in Republican politics for more than 15 years, previously serving as a GOP State Committeewoman for six years and as Co-Chair of the Monmouth County Republican Committee before ascending to the state party chairmanship.
As Monmouth County Clerk, Hanlon heads a constitutional office with five divisions handling property recordings, elections, archives, passports, and records management. She has prioritized operational modernization, including the launch of a free mobile elections application, implementation of BallotTrax (an enhanced ballot tracking system), digitization of paper records, and creation of a property fraud alert program. She also established the Mobile County Connection to bring services directly to communities and launched civic engagement and veterans recognition initiatives.
In January 2026, Hanlon was elected Chair of the New Jersey Republican Party, succeeding the previous leadership. She immediately appointed Luke Ferrante as Executive Director, drawing from his experience as Political Director for Jack Ciattarelli's 2025 gubernatorial campaign. Her election represents a consolidation of Republican organizational leadership in one of New Jersey's most populous and politically competitive counties.
Hanlon currently serves as a Trustee for the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Foundation, the Monmouth Bar Association, Monmouth Bar Foundation, and Monmouth Council of the Boy Scouts of America. She is a past President of the Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey, the Monmouth County SPCA, and the Monmouth Bar Association. She received the 2025 Public Service Award from the Amerigo Vespucci Society of Long Branch and the 2024 Monmouth Bar Association "Service to the Bar" Award.
