Nutley N.J. — Republican congressional candidate Carmen Bucco joined NJBallot for an in-depth interview covering his campaign for New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District, sharing his personal story, policy priorities and vision for representing one of the state's most Democratic districts.

Bucco, a small business owner and founder of the Bucco’s Rising Stars Foundation, described overcoming foster care, homelessness and drug addiction before building his business. He said those experiences shaped his approach to politics and community service.

Throughout the interview, Bucco repeatedly emphasized a message of political unity, arguing that voters are tired of partisan division and want elected officials focused on solving problems. He said affordability, public safety, mental health, housing conditions, education and government accountability would be among his top priorities if elected.

On affordability, Bucco discussed rising grocery prices, utility bills and taxes, while arguing that reducing government waste and corruption should be a priority before asking taxpayers to shoulder additional costs. He also expressed concern about deteriorating housing conditions in some urban communities and called for stronger enforcement against landlords who fail to maintain safe living conditions.

The interview also covered immigration, protests outside Delaney Hall, law enforcement, Second Amendment policy, education, health care and his willingness to work across party lines. Asked about representing a heavily Democratic district, Bucco said he would vote based on what he believes is best for constituents rather than party leadership.
