Background

Kristin M. Corrado is a Republican member of the New Jersey State Senate, representing the 40th Legislative District (parts of Morris, Bergen, Passaic, and Essex Counties) since October 5, 2017. A lifelong resident of Totowa in Passaic County, Corrado is the daughter of attorney Robert E. Corrado and was raised in a family with deep roots in local government and legal practice. She attended St. James School in Totowa and Paul VI High School in Clifton before earning her bachelor's degree in political science from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and her Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law.

After law school, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Amos Saunders, Presiding Chancery Judge in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Passaic Vicinage, and then as Assistant Counsel to Governor James Florio in the Authorities Unit. She later worked as Purchasing Agent and Contract Administrator at the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission in Wanaque before entering private practice. Corrado is a partner in the law firm of Corrado & Corrado, Esqs., a general practice firm specializing in real estate and probate transactions, and served as municipal attorney for Totowa for ten years. She previously served as Passaic County Clerk from 2010 to 2017, where she expanded passport and notary services, opened a satellite office in Wanaque, and established the Veterans ID Program. Corrado was appointed to the Senate in October 2017 to fill the vacancy created by Kevin J. O'Toole's resignation to join the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and has since been re-elected in 2017, 2021, and 2023.
