Background

Jon M. Bramnick is a Republican member of the New Jersey State Senate, representing the 21st Legislative District (parts of Morris and Middlesex Counties) since January 11, 2022. He previously served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2003 to 2022, where he was Assembly Republican Leader from 2012 to 2022—the longest tenure of any Republican leader in the Assembly. Bramnick launched an unsuccessful campaign for the Republican gubernatorial nomination in 2025, losing in the June primary. A personal injury attorney by profession, he is a partner at Bramnick, Rodriguez, Grabas, Arnold and Mangan in Westfield.

He previously served on the Plainfield City Council from 1984 to 1991 and has taught as an assistant professor of business law at Rider University and as an adjunct professor at Rutgers University. Bramnick has cultivated a reputation as a moderate Republican in New Jersey politics and has been an outspoken critic of Donald Trump within the state GOP. He was born and raised in Plainfield, where his family owned a stationery store, before moving to Westfield.
