New Jersey General Assembly, 15th Legislative District
Anthony S. Verrelli is a Democratic member of the New Jersey General Assembly representing the 15th Legislative District, which encompasses municipalities in Mercer and Hunterdon counties. The district's most populous communities include Trenton, Ewing Township, Lawrence Township, and West Windsor Township. Verrelli was sworn into office on August 5, 2018, to fill the vacancy created when Reed Gusciora resigned to become mayor of Trenton. He has been re-elected in 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2025.
Born on January 6, 1964, in Trenton, Verrelli grew up in Lawrence Township and graduated from Notre Dame High School. He entered the carpentry trade in 1989, joining the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Over a 30-year career in the building trades, he served as a steward, foreman, organizer, business representative, senior council representative for the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters, trustee for the Northeast Carpenter Funds, and president of Carpenters Local Union 254. He currently serves as Executive Director of the Mercer County Improvement Authority.
Verrelli's public service began in 2001 on the Ewing Township Zoning Board of Adjustments. He later served on the Mercer County Planning Board from 2004 to 2008 and the Mercer County Improvement Authority from 2008 to 2016, including three years as vice chairman. In 2016 he was elected to the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders, serving until his appointment to the Assembly in 2018.
